Premium information (based on amount of coverage and employee’s age) can be found in the GIC Benefits Decision Guide.
How to Apply
Eligible employees may enroll for coverage upon hire into a benefited position with coverage, effective the first day of the month following 60 days of covered employment.
Applications for GIC LTD insurance requested after initial employment are reviewed based on a medical evidence of insurability information and may be denied on that basis.
You may apply for the coverage by completing a GIC Benefit Decision Guide.
Massachusetts Optional Retirement Program (ORP)
Members of ORP are provided a Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance plan as part of that benefit. ORP members should carefully consider the value of purchasing GIC LTD coverage as benefits paid under the ORP plan can significantly reduce or eliminate GIC LTD payments: MA ORP GIC Disability FAQs.
Additional information about Long-Term Disability Insurance is available on the GIC website.
