Congratulations on your new position. We are delighted to have you join our team. We encourage you to review the new employee information regarding employment at the university:
New Employee Required Training
All new employees must complete the following trainings
University Required Training
State Required Training
- Safe Communities (Discrimination & Harassment Prevention)
- FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) (Required based on job duties)
- Conflict of Interest / Massachusetts Ethics Training (Required every two years)
How to Access Your Training
You will receive email invitations shortly after your start date with instructions and due dates. Training notifications will be sent from:
- Percipio email address: no-reply@percipio.com
- Vector Solutions / UMass Education email address: umasseducation@umb.edu
Please check your UMB inbox and junk/spam folder, and do not ignore these emails.
Technical Requirements
To complete your training successfully use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Safari is not supported on these platforms
Additional Department Requirements
Some departments may require additional training based on job duties or operational needs. If you are unsure which trainings apply to you, please contact your supervisor and lara.enein@umb.edu
Completion of all required training by the assigned due dates is mandatory.
Understanding Your Benefits
Benefited Employees
Before you start:
You will receive an onboarding email via the applicant portal or directly from HR which will include your offer letter and pre-employment documents.
- Accept your offer via the applicant portal or sign your offer letter.
- Complete and sign your background check acknowledgements.
- Complete Form I-9. Section I will be completed online. Section II must be completed in the Human Resources Department no later than the third day of employment at the university. To schedule an appointment to process your Form I-9, please contact HR@umb.edu.
- Complete your pre-employment documents.
- Make arrangements with your supervisor about your first day.
Your first week:
- Plan to attend a mandatory benefits information session (you will receive an email invitation).
- Claim your email and Beacon Card.
- Meet with your supervisor to review and discuss your job description, as well as job expectations for the first three months at the university.
- Meet with your supervisor at the end of the first week to debrief your first week as well as discuss how to prepare for the next week.
Your first month:
- Review the HR Direct time entry steps.
- Complete and return any university system/access forms to your supervisor and/or identified administrative support staff.
- Attend campus events, seminars, and sporting events that are of interest to you and continue to introduce yourself to those inside and outside of your department.
- Review University policies, including those regarding non-discrimination, workers compensation, employee leave, and personnel.
Non-Benefited Employees
Before you start:
You will receive an onboarding email directly from HR which will include pre-employment documents.
- Complete and sign your background check acknowledgements.
- Complete Form I-9. Section I will be completed online. Section II must be completed in the Human Resources Department no later than the third day of employment at the university. To schedule an appointment to process your Form I-9, please contact HR@umb.edu.
- Complete your pre-employment documents.
Your first week:
- Make arrangements with your supervisor about your first day and your schedule.
- Claim your email.
- Report your time to your supervisor or timekeeper.
